This blog will draw from the content of my program ‘Dream. See. Do. How to Live an Extraordinary Life on Purpose’. We will start at the beginning & the blogs will come about once a week. Some time between teachings is important for contemplation.
During my 51 years at ‘The Great School of Life’ I have been privileged to have met many wise people, and studied their practice. Traveling with my camera and guitar, I have found myself sharing wisdom, folklore & spirituality from the desert sands to the highest mountains of the world.
I have created a ‘toolbox’ of wisdom from these encounters & experiences, supplementing it with the work from other great teachers. According to the ancient Greeks, philosophy is the ‘love of wisdom’ or the ‘collection of wisdom’. I have made my collection into a pathway to purpose, and I recount it here to not only share with the world, but to remind myself that there is a higher road.
I like to begin with the Native American Ute saying, “We Each Have a Song”.
This message is repeated, in one way or another, in every spiritual teaching that I have encountered. What does it mean? That we each have our own, unique purpose, calling or mission to fulfill.
A modern western lifestyle quickly places barriers between us & our purpose. The three main culprits being the fast pace of life and all it’s distractions, our disconnection with the Earth that is our home, & the limitations that we place upon ourselves as we move through life.
Many of the distractions are superficial or ultimately meaningless. Our disconnection with the Earth and all it’s creatures stares us in the face every day. The limitations are self-imposed, brought about by what we have ‘learned’ about ourselves.
So, from here on in, just consider that you have a song to sing. Let it be a suggestion.
I’d like to lead us through a process then; an enquiry of how to uncover this unique purpose. To do that, we have to begin with a question to ourselves, & this is it:
“If I had everything that I ever wanted, including possessions, home, relationships, health, job, money, family; what is it that I would do with my life?”
This is a big question. If you are feeling engaged or inspired, I’d recommend making journal notes. You will want to chart progress toward your calling.
And please, share this journey with others, copy the blog link and send it out into the world. There is a surge of consciousness taking place worldwide. Ride the wave or be left behind. If there is a legacy to be left for our descendants, then trust me; this is it.
